BruhnBruhn Innovation has established a corporate advisory board to bring independent senior counsel to the company as it scales the Dacreo platform for space and edge operations. We are very pleased to welcome Dr. Anthony Scriffignano as its first member.
The advisory board provides counsel on technology, markets, and governance. It supports the work of the board of directors and management rather than replacing it, and it gives us access to perspectives that are difficult to build internally at our stage.
The connection runs through the Stimson Center. Dr. Scriffignano serves on the Alfred Lee Loomis Innovation Council alongside both Dr. Fredrik Bruhn and BruhnBruhn Innovation board member Lena W Jansson.
Expertise
Dr. Scriffignano brings more than forty years in data science, advanced analytics, and computational linguistics, including work as primary inventor on multiple patents worldwide. He spent over two decades at Dun and Bradstreet, latterly as Chief Data Scientist, leading global data strategy, entity resolution, and matching at scale.
He is a Distinguished Fellow on the Alfred Lee Loomis Innovation Council at the Stimson Center, a former member of the OECD Network of Experts on AI working group on trustworthy AI, and a former commissioner for the Atlantic Council, where he contributed to a report on the geopolitical impacts of new technologies and data. He has briefed the US National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee and contributed to three separate reports to the US President on Big Data Analytics, Emerging Technologies Strategic Vision, and Internet and Communications Resilience. He was named US Chief Data Officer of the Year by the CDO Club.
Four areas of his expertise matter directly to what we are building. Trustworthy AI, because autonomous decisions taken onboard a spacecraft have to be explainable after the fact. Data science at scale, because the value of space edge computing lies in what reaches the ground and what does not. Intellectual property, because an open interface standard and a commercial platform have to coexist cleanly. Mission critical deployment of advanced services, because dependability is the whole proposition.
“I have seen at close range how Anthony thinks about technology that carries consequences,” says Dr. Fredrik Bruhn, Chairman and Chief Technologist at BruhnBruhn Innovation. “We are building systems that make decisions in orbit, where nobody can intervene. Having someone of his standing ask us hard questions early is exactly what we need.”
Dr. Scriffignano holds a Ph.D. in leadership and change from Antioch University and an MBA from Columbia Business School, as well as undergraduate and graduate degrees in computer science from Montclair State University.
Dr. Scriffignano is presented on our leadership page at Leadership and governance.
