The Digital Space Consortium is Officially Established

July 21, 2026 marked an important milestone for the Digital Space Consortium (DSC). In London, the founding members signed the Consortium Agreement, formally establishing the Consortium and beginning its next phase of development.

With the agreement now signed by Blue Marble Communications, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, and BruhnBruhn Innovation, the DSC continues its work to develop the Digital Space Interface (DSI). The Consortium aims to create open, royalty-free APIs that make software more portable, interoperable, and reusable across future space missions.

BruhnBruhn Innovation is also proud to announce that our CTO, Fredrik Bruhn, has been appointed Chairman of the Digital Space Consortium. As Chairman, he will lead the Steering Committee and help guide the development of the DSI together with experts from industry and government agencies.

Alongside Fredrik’s appointment, Neal Nicholson, President of Blue Marble Communications, has been appointed Senior Advisor to the Consortium. Nabar Tsog and other representatives from Mitsubishi Electric will serve as Strategic Leaders and Consortium Managers, helping guide the Consortium’s strategic direction and supporting its continued growth.

The establishment of the DSC represents an important step towards a more open and interoperable software ecosystem for space. By bringing together leading organisations from industry, government, and academia, the Consortium creates a collaborative environment where common standards can accelerate innovation and reduce barriers between missions, platforms, and vendors.

Participation in the Digital Space Consortium is open to organisations across the space sector. Whether as a Principal Member, General Member, or DSI Adopter, participants have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the Digital Space Interface and help shape the future of cloud-native space operations.
